Theatre and Cinema at Virginia Tech
Theatre and Cinema Schedule
The Department of Theatre and Cinema is inventing the future of American theatre at Virginia Tech by producing contemporary plays and new visions of the classics to discover how our performances connect with and stimulate people in the New River Valley. Two ticketed main stage shows with multiple performances and a number of free workshop productions are produced each semester creating shared theatrical experiences for the entire community. The cinema program offers many cinema-related activities that unspool year-round, including visiting artists and special screenings to the student-run Progeny Film Festival.
Music at Virginia Tech

The Department of Music produces the University Chamber Music Series and the New River Valley Symphony Series; both series offer ticketed performances. In addition, numerous choral and instrumental ensemble performances are also produced and are free and open to the public.
The University Chamber Music series combines the talents of our faculty with internationally known guest artists creating world-class entertainment. The New River Valley Symphony, comprised of the outstanding musicianship of Virginia Tech faculty, students, and artists from throughout the New River Valley, performs masterworks by the great composers of yesterday and today.
Artists Registry
The Artists Registry is a program within the School of Performing Arts and Cinema (initiated and funded by the Provost Office) that was established in 1990 to accomplish two objectives, both related to the service mission of the University and as enhancement to University student recruitment and University image in the Commonwealth:
1. to facilitate individuals or groups (both within and outside the
University) in obtaining the services of appropriate Virginia Tech
(and local) artists, performers, or performance ensembles to
present or perform at events they are sponsoring; and,
2. to provide quality artists, performers, and performance ensembles
from the University (and surrounding community) to approved
University offices for purposes of image enhancement, student
recruitment and the like.
All inquiries should be directed to Jane Harrison, Manager, Artists Registry at
